SocialTech: Open Source Social Software
Given the proliferation of social networking software, this is a useful listing of open source software that you may or may not have already heard of. I am quite surprised that of all the s/w listed, I am only somewhat familiar with but three of them.
Once again I am running across Elgg, which I have yet to really explore and keep meaning to do so. Under the Open Source Virtual Worlds category, I have heard of
- Croquet http://www.opencroquet.org/, but not used it or really investigated it.
- I am a bit more familiar with the NMC Open Virtual Worlds Project http://www.nmc.org/news/nmc/nmc-launche, but can’t really lay claim to being all that knowlegable about it. I’m surprised that I know so little of what is mentioned here, as I thought I was better informed. How did this happen? (This is not really a serious question)
